If you are planning to visit Kompong Phluk, Kompong Khleang or another floating village in Siem Reap, you need to be aware of the Siem Reap floating village entrance fee. This fee includes your boat ticket as well as tourism tax.
Below we have supplied the ticket prices for each floating village. Please note these prices are accurate as of posting, but are subject to change. If you paid a different amount, please let us know so we can update our blog.

Chong Kneas Floating Village Entrance Fee
Chong Kneas Floating Village is the closest in Siem Reap and easily accessible via a paved road which follows the river. While we don’t recommend visiting Chong Kneas because of floating village scams, it is convenient and also located next to Phnom Krom, a mountain in Siem Reap which is home to temple ruins. If you are planning to bicycle to the floating village or only have a short amount of time, Chong Kneas is your best bet.
The Chong Kneas entrance fee is $20 per person. It includes a boat trip through the floating village and out to the beginning of the Tonle Sap lake where there are houseboats with crocodile farms and souvenir shops. They also like to take people to a school, but we discourage you from going there for a variety of reasons. Lastly, in addition to the boat ticket, it includes the local tourism tax. There should be no additional fees

Kompong Phluk Floating Village Entrance Fee
Kompong Phluk Floating Village (sometimes spelled Kampong Phluk or Khampong Phluk) is located a bit outside of Siem Reap on the way to Bakheng district. This floating village is smaller compared to Kompong Khleang, but it has the benefit of having a flooded forest during most of the year. It also has more dining facilities than the other floating villages. So, if you want to sit back and watch the sunset with a nice meal and drink, this might be a good choice for you.
The Kompong Phluk entrance fee is $20 per person. The includes the primary, community tourism boat ticket as well as the local tourism tax. Please note it does not include the flooded forest canoe ride. The flooded forest entrance fee is an additional $5 per person. Up to (2) passengers will join in each canoe. To visit Kompong Phluk and the flooded forest you should expect to pay at least $25.

Meychrey Floating Village Entrance Fee
Meychrey Floating Village (sometimes spelled Mechrey) is located in the opposite direction of the other floating villages on the the way to Puok district. It takes about one hour to get there by tuk-tuk or car. While it is an excellent opportunity to see the countryside, this floating village is slightly less popular, especially during the dry season where boats struggle in the shallow waters. The upside of visiting Mechrey is the nature sanctuary home to endangered birds.
The Meychrey Floating Village entrance fee is $20 which includes the boat ticket and tourism tax. If you want to visit the bird center, there is an additional fee of $30 for a different boat that takes you through the nature reserve. There is also a required $10 donation to the sanctuary. Altogether, expect to pay $60 for the full Meychrey floating village experience.

Kompong Khleang Floating Village Entrance Fee
Kompong Khleang Floating Village (sometimes spelled as Kampong or Khampong Khleang) is the largest and furthest floating village in Siem Reap province. As of today, it is easily the most popular and highest rated floating village experience in Siem Reap due to its size and lack of tourism facilities.
The Kompong Khleang entrance fee is $21 (if you are traveling alone) or $20 per person if you are going with others. This includes a boat ride through the village and onwards to the Tonle Sap lake where you can see two houseboat villages. It also includes the local tourism tax. There should be no additional fees.

Why You Should Go on a Group Floating Village Tour
While visiting the floating village is fun, unique, and a worthwhile experience, it can also be a bit expensive at $20 per person for the tickets and tax. This doesn’t include transportation to the village, a tour guide, water or snacks – it is essentially just for the boat ride.
As we have noted in a prior blog post, it is typically a much better value to visit a floating village with a tour company such as The Tonle Sap Experience. There are several reasons for this. The main reason is that tour companies have contracts with boat cooperatives so they can receive a discount on the entrance fee. As a result, they can provide more affordable experiences of the floating villages and the Tonle Sap lake. In addition, by sharing the cost of transportation, tour guide, and food, customers are able to get a lot more amenities at a fraction of the usual price.
