This fun, guided floating village group tour departs Siem Reap at 2:00 pm in an air-conditioned van. We will make the journey to Kompong Phluk, a floating village located about 40 minutes from Siem Reap that is home to the largest mangrove forest in Cambodia. On our journey to the village, we will first stop at a local market to try some popular Khmer snacks. We then continue to a large, rural pagoda that is never visited by other tourists. Learn about Buddhism with your tour guide, see gorgeous, hand-painted murals, and meet friendly monks before their evening prayers.
After a tour of the countryside we will arrive at the outskirts of Kompong Phluk floating village. We will board a boat that will eventually take us directly to the Tonle Sap. We will first travel through the heart of Kompong Phluk, passing through stilted and floating homes that have been here for generations. Afterward, we continue to the flooded forest, disembarking into rowboats to see the mangroves with residents. Upon returning to our boat, we will head out to the Tonle Sap. Here we will learn about the lake and its importance to the Khmer people. We will usually be able to enjoy a beautiful and tranquil sunset. Upon the conclusion of sunset, we will return to Siem Reap. Our floating village group tour usually arrives between 6:45 and 7:15 pm depending on the season.
Please note this tour visits Kompong Phluk Floating Village (not Kompong Khleang). You can learn the differences between the two villages here. If you’d like to visit Kompong Khleang instead, you can book your Kompong Khleang group tour here.
