Leave from Siem Reap in an air-conditioned van and make your way to our first stop at a village called Poom Krolanh. This community is famous for growing bamboo and preparing fresh, sticky rice every morning. Learn about the process where the rice is cooked, stuffed into hollowed out bamboo, and then smoked on a grill. We will then try some from ourselves. From there we head out to a countryside bakery where donuts and bread are made by hand. We will have a chance to try some treats and watch the staff create these treats. Depending on the time of day you can also create a donut or waffle cone using their equipment. After the bakery, we will make a quick visit to a local market where we will be able to see (and try) local street food which is common in the countryside.
After the street food tour, we take a right and make our way to Kompong Khleang located on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake. We will board a boat to see the floating village and make stops at a Buddhist pagoda as well as a traditional, stilted home. We will enjoy a light meal at the home and, assuming it is the dry season, we will also be able to do a walking tour of the village. From there we return to the community tourism boat and head out to the Tonle Sap lake where there are two other ethnic-Vietnamese floating villages. After seeing the lake, we return to Siem Reap. This street food tour lasts about 7 hours, but we can make adjustments if you have a tight schedule.
