Start early in the morning in your private, air-conditioned van and visit Cambodia’s most famous and significant temples – the legendary Angkor Wat as well as the Angkor Thom complex, home of Bayon and Terrace of the Elephants. Afterward, depending on desire as well as the pace of travel, you can visit Ta Prohm. This temple was made famous by the Tomb Raider movie, and known for its massive overgrown trees.
After your visit to the temples, you will take a break and enjoy a Khmer set lunch (Western options available) before making your way to Kompong Phluk. Upon arrival in the village board a boat and travel through the heart of Kompong Phluk, passing by stilted and floating homes that have been here for generations. Learn about life on the Tonle Sap and then make a brief stop at the pagoda for an introduction to Buddhism. Continue to the floating forest, disembarking into rowboats to see the mangroves. Return to the community tourism boat to venture out to see the enormous Tonle Sap lake before heading back to Siem Reap city.
This Angkor Wat and floating village tour lasts about 8 – 10 hours depending on your pace of travel at the temples; whether you want to see Ta Prohm Temple; and whether you decide to stay for sunset.
